I have so many clients asking me what to wear to a shoot! Here are some good ideas that I have found! :)

All the looks that I have picked out are from J.Crew. They always do an awesome job styling. This does not mean you have to go out and spend a lot of money at J.Crew. I am almost positive you can create any of these looks for less! I would even suggest going on a family adventure to find clothes and accessories for your session. Remember booking with me is an investment you will have forever, and having the right look is a major part.

Children can never have to many accessories! I like the mix and matching that is going on here. Try lots of layers.

These girls are dressed super cute. I love the skinny jeans!

Again more mixing of fabrics/patterns. Love the hat and big accessories. This would be a fun look for a Sr.

shoes are a very very important part of your outfit! please please do not overlook this part! here are some cute idea's. flats are really in right now

I haven't really updated that much about the pregnancy so here we go... Right now I am in my 35 week. This past month has been going really slow. The anticipation is just killing me. Most of my pregnancy has been spent in the bathroom if you know what I mean. Just recently I have been feeling a little off. My body feels like jello and I feel like I am going to faint all the time. Arr is this just part of the deal? My doctor did a series of blood tests last week and he called me to come in today. Hopefully he has figured out what is going on and can give me some relief. I just pray every thing is fine with Ava, I don't mind being sick for her!

I still have been unable to gain weight back. Still weighing in at less than I started. My body has been through a war and I am ready to have it back! I'm sure in a few short weeks I will forget all of this ever happened. I look forward to sharing pictures and stories of Ava with all of you.

We finally got around to baby Ava's room. We asked for a gift card from Lowe's for Christmas so we would be able to do it. David and I both picked out different elements of the room. It's finally starting to come together!

-David made the cute letters for the door! :) He is sooo proud of those! lol- We put that cute black and white wallpaper on the top and David picked out the paint for the bottom!

Big Things Poppin

Big Things Poppin--- yes for real. My belly is really starting to show! :) For those of you who don't know yet we are having a baby girl!!!!!!!!!! :) baby Ava! That was our good news in the midst of the storm...
A few days after Christmas I started getting really sick. I was in and out of the emergency room for about 2 weeks straight. I started getting really down and I could tell David was really frustrated also. I was home alone all the time while David was at work in Indy. We decided that I should go stay with my parents for a little bit because they would be able to take care of me, and that would take away from some of David's stress. The day before my flight left I wasn't sure I would be able to make the trip, I was in bad shape... Needless to say I made it to Florida and have been feeling soo much better!! Thanks to every one who prayed for me and checked in on me! It really helped!

In photography news-- so sorry to everyone! I have been horrible about answering questions and emails! please please please feel free to call me if i don't respond to your emails in a few days! When I started doing this photography thing it was just for fun, but now i am realizing it is turning into a full blown business. David is going to start shooting with me at weddings and helping me lugg all my things around. I am also going to be signing up for PICTAGE that will make my work load soo much lighter. Basically clients will be able to order from their website and they will do all the developing and sending out pictures. Clients will get their pictures much faster and receieve great quality!!

my heart is overwhelmed with joy. almost one month until the wedding. david and i are continually growing closer to each other and to God. these past few months have been amazing. in counseling last week pastor judy asked me why i wanted to marry david... well the answer is very simple. we can accomplish great things together, more than we could ever do by ourselves. when i am weak he is strong, and when he is weak i am strong. we inspire each other to be better. both of us have a burning passion for ministry and it's amazing to see how God has already started using us. we are hungry.

lately i have been thinking about my calling. what is it? how will i know? I honestly believe that my calling is in the things that grieve me the most and where my passion lies. i am very aware that my calling at times can cause me to suffer, but the major role of that is to help build character. God is not just interested in me, he loves all of us so much that he will NOT let us be comfortable, we can not learn or grow without crisis. God already began the good work in me, he will never leave my side.

Yesterday I took pictures for sweet TOT! Shoots are always fun when your subject is excited about it too! We were able to get really creative so I think we got some really fun shots! David and I also got a new Kitty yesterday! Her name is Miley! :) She and Carson are already pals. They both slept with David last night! Things are going really well! Business is booming and I feel so blessed that God has given me this talent. I owe all my success to Him! To all my wonderful friends you have been so encouraging and I can never thank you enough. Rehearsal Dinner Dress

Most of you who read this already know I am getting married October 4, 2008! The day before my birthday! The wedding plans are going great but I am really excited about the rehearsal dinner. I feel like it is the perfect time to let loose and really use my creative ideas. We are pretty much inviting all of our families and friends. It's going to be a time to just relax and have fun. So far what we have planned is a old fashion BBQ with a glamorous twist of coarse! This definitely means: sun dresses, cowboy boots/hats, country music, dancing under the stars, ribs, corn on the cob, ice cold punch, and pie! What is not to love? The most exciting part is picking out my dress!!! I picked out the one below, I've had my eye on it for a long time! I love it especially with the boots! The picture in the middle is how I want to decorate, but a little more toned down! Let me know some thoughts!

It's was a hot one today! To beat the heat David and I went and registered at Target (with some helpful persuading by Chelsee). It ended up being a ton of fun, and we registered for some really awesome things probably twice! We also went spy style on Chelsee and found her in non other than *COSCO* you know what I mean! Once again Chels and Ryan ended up cooking an amazing dinner and beating us in cards! :) lol ! What a fun night!

We recently traveled to Maryland to visit Davids family. It was a great time of relaxing and hanging out with family. Most of the pictures I took were of little Naomi, Matt's daughter. She is so cute! She is also my flower girl in my wedding! We did a lot of fun things, we went downtown to the zoo, watched fireworks, and I learned how to crack open crabs! LOL. You will see a picture of that below!

We took on the task of making a chest for our t.v. to go in. The old dresser was a yellow color and we painted it black. We also replaced the glass with black and white fabric! Let me know what you think!

David and I finally finished the dining room! We love it! We honestly have so much space we don't know what to do with it! But we are getting furniture little by little. I painted the kitchen table and chairs! Love the Black and White! My mom and I went and bought flowers for the table but we are going to need way more, my bouquet is a little sparse!

30 somethings...

I feel the need to vent a little. Lately I have been learning how hard it is to be a Christian living in a small Christian Community. It is hard to see other Christian women act worse than some of my non-believing friends. Now I understand more fully why those who are not Christians have such a hard time believing.

I have a story of events to go along with this point. It was a real test of my patience (and those who know me know that I can be a ticking time bomb). Anyways, yesterday I got up checked my email like usual. I had a message from one of my dearest friends and she sent me a link to another local photographer who was also just starting. I flipped through her blog and didn't think anything else of it. Shortly after that I received a phone call from a lady who supposedly wanted me to photograph her 6 year old daughter- she was very short and pretty much just wanted my price list. She gave me her email address and that was that. I had that funny feeling when you know someone is up to no good but went on with the day. Later I got back online and stumbled onto the website my friend gave me, and to my wonderful surprise found that same lady that had called me earlier was writing all over this photographers blog-- to make a long story short they were friends and she just wanted to find out my prices for her friend. Of all the sneaky lowly things. I fought my burning urge to email her and give her a piece of my mind, but instead I wrote her back and told her if she wanted a price list she could set up an appointment and meet with me face to face knowing she would not agree to this, and if she didn't it would prove my point. She wrote back saying that her friend was going to be taking her daughters pictures and if I sent her a price list she would THINK ABOUT ME for next time!!! I burst into laughter. How lame! Honestly! I told my family and all my friends about what happened and they told me I should have just let her have it!!!! I couldn't bring myself to stoop to her level, i just l e t i t g o . . . . I never even knew this woman existed but everyone I talked to about it knew who it was without me even saying her name! Hmmm.....Well now you have the story and you can be the judge. It is just another reminder that people are always going to let us down.

The Lord totally gave me patience yesterday. Now I need a little lesson in FORGIVENESS :)

I haven't posted in a long while! A quick update: Life is going great! The photography business is growing already! What a blessing. David is finally moved into the new house:) We love our new house in Marion by the hospital we feel so snooty! lol. I'll post a few pictures because it was soo fun to decorate and pick out paint! I don't know why people hire decorators COME ON PEOPLE! Alright a decorator might be alright if you want a cheesy house that looks just like everyone else's.

And that budget has to include every cruel little element that people love to ignore but really can’t—down to garbage collection, city taxes, sales taxes, bookkeeping, advertising, shipping costs, insurance—the list goes on and on. And he must have enough resources to withstand some ‘quiet times’.”

“A lot of people come into the gallery business for the wrong reasons or without the sort of art experience that will really help. There are a lot of young dealers who don’t have a firm grasp of the fundamentals. Anyone who’s going to open a gallery shouldn’t only be a businessman; he or she should be well-versed in the history of art—and not only of the last 15 years, or even the last century, either, but art’s entire history.”

“History informs the present,” he replied, “and it allows you to work with artists, and it helps in comprehending their work. I’m not preachy about it. I just feel this is what separates many contemporary dealers from the others. If I know about Mondrian, I can speak about Warren Isensee [a gallery artist] a little more convincingly.”

And why does that matter?

“The best dealers are not salesmen in the classic sense of the word,” he said. “Their passion and their connoisseurship and their knowledge have to combine to convince someone to acquire something that has no ostensible function in life, and that’s not always an easy thing to do. It is distinct from the normal business world because of that.”

This is really alot for me to think about. The more information I can gather at this point the better.

I sold my first painting post Taylor. It was actually hard to see it go. After I spent so much time, thought, and work on something it was hard to let it go, no matter how much I made. I can still see it in my head... hopefully this selling thing will get easier or I will probably be a really poor person!

David and I finished our home makeover and I am really excited about my new studio space. It is a small room but it has a really large secret room/closet I can put all my pieces in. You can see the picture of the right. I painted those checks on the floor by hand! It took a really long time, but I think it was worth it. I need to find a drawing table that will fit in the room nicely. Having my own space, is really encouraging I can't wait to start using it. You can also see the picture of my painting stash below...

Last night David and I had a big discussion about my future and what the heck I am going to be doing. I told him I would really like to start up some sort of gallery. Our town has never had anything of the sorts, and I am really trying to get some sort of art vibe going. I found a building that would be perfect, but getting the funding would be hard. Grants? I have no clue. But anyways, I could run and manage the gallery having shows and also doing summer art camps for kids, and maybe adult lessons at nights. I'm not sure, it is all up in the air right now but it gives me something to think about.

All Good Things Come to an End...

Today was my last day of classes at Taylor University. It's very bittersweet. I will especially miss my paiting classes with Bruce. I learned more in advanced painting in one semester than I did in my 5 years of studio classes. I have so much to learn from other's especially people that have already made a name for themselves in the art world. I am excited to move on to a new stage of life. A new house, a new place, a new job...

The painting to the left is one I made for a show. It is a 4ft by 4ft painting. I hope to continue making art and hopefully making a name for myself. It is going to be hard living in a small town that lacks an art scene, but that will give me an exscuse to travel and meet new people.

Robert Rauschenberg, American Artist, Dies at 82

I wasn't quite sure what to write about in my first post... but when I heard about the death of Robert Rauschenberg I couldn't help but share a few thoughts... "A painter, photographer, printmaker, choreographer, onstage performer, set designer and, in later years, even a composer, Mr. Rauschenberg defied the traditional idea that an artist stick to one medium or style. He pushed, prodded and sometimes reconceived all the mediums in which he worked." I always get sad when interesting/influential people pass away. They all seem to have lived such wonderful lives, full of traveling and doing whatever pleases them. I wish I could be more carefree.
